...and it was all yellow

this weeks chosen theme is "Yellow"

such a happy colour perfect for a spring/summer wedding and it will reflect the tone of the day with it's warm sunshine feel.  The gorgeous bridesmaid dress shown is from Oasis and would look stunning with this theme. You can really liven up tables with a burst of yellow by using lemons, daffodils, sunflowers or you could go for a more muted tone using daisies and roses. With all this sunshine being projected your day can't help but be full of joy!

Fabulous Favours

Before you start gathering sugared almonds up into little organza bags see if you can find some inspiration for a different kind of wedding favour right here:

You might want to consider the increasingly popular 'charity' favour(top left) which is where the couple can either donate £xxx to their chosen charity in place of guest favours or they purchase charity pins as the actual favour or maybe an Eco-friendly favour is more your style, if so you could make bird seed hearts (bottom middle) and attach a message using recycled paper or give your guests some garden seeds (2nd row left) a nice touch to this is make them for the flowers used in your bouquet. Maybe you would prefer to keep your favours in the theme of your wedding so if your day is a shabby chic wedding select some trinkets such as the door hanger heart (top right) to fit with the theme or if you are trying to DIY your wedding as much as possible try making some little jars of jam with messages stuck on as labels or baking your own biscuits and icing guests names onto them (top middle). Happy favour hunting!

Website of the Day

Today I have chosen melodymaison.co.uk as my website of the day.

there is quite a selection of lovely wedding items on this site from tealight holders to favour boxes. It's a good place to find those extra touches for your day.

Dress of the Week

This striking dress from Ellis Bridals is my choice for this week. I love the shape and the black sash gives it a contemporary edge. It's definitely one I'll be hunting down to try on in my search for the perfect dress.

Theme of the Week

My chosen wedding theme this week is the English Garden Party

The good thing about this theme is you can pick up bits and pieces as you go along at charity shops, car boot sales etc as not everything needs to match perfectly. A Garden Party should be relaxed and slightly informal so it's the ideal opportunity to have fun with day in tea length dresses and quirky shoes. Your cake can be a tower of individual cupcakes or even a sprawling spread of classic WI style cakes. Make your welcome drink a classic Pimms or give it a twist and serve traditional lemonade in jugs. If you don't think you will be blessed with the weather to have a truly outdoors theme then a marquee or orangery can be transformed into the perfect backdrop for a indoor garden party. Just remember to have fun and throw a day that people will never forget.

Look Shoe's Talking

So many brides are now turning away from the classic ivory satin wedding shoe and opting to add a splash of personality and vibrancy to their day through their shoes so I've put together a few ideas for those of you who want to take your first steps as a Mrs in style

A good place to start looking for your alternative shoes is at Irregular Choice which is fast becoming a firm favourite amongst brides looking for that something different or really inject the day with your own style and design your very own shoes at upperstreet.com Why not add some pics of your wedding shoes for added inspiration?

Friday Finds

I'm back after feeling totally cut off from the world as my Internet decided to pack in! but I bring with me an array of fabulous finds:

My first find is this delicious cake from M&S. Priced at just £199 it's affordable and it can be decorated to suit a variety of different themes and colours. I think you could cover it in berries and make it perfect for an Autumn wedding or fresh vibrant fruit to make it more Summer-like!

Next I have found this gorgeous website with loads of beautiful little treasures perfect for that shabby chic look
livelaughlove.co.uk

Another M&S find, they have launched their range of Bridesmaids dresses which all come in under £100 , they have quite a few of the 'classic' wedding colours available and the quality is excellent. Well worth a look.

I have fallen in love with this stunning garland It would look so pretty entwined around the bars of a birdcage as a centre piece.

This stunning dress has a truly romantic feel, the detail to the waist and the shape of the skirt make it super flattering and the beautiful flower detailing give it whimisical feminine touch.
